Expert Guidance for Your Surface & Renovation Projects

Find answers to common questions about our materials, installation standards, and project management process in the North Okanagan.

General Business & Process

Do you only supply materials, or do you provide installation?

We are an installation-first company. While we supply premium flooring, cabinetry, and stone, our core strength is the professional execution of the project. We manage the entire process from technical site measures to the final walkthrough.

Where do you offer your services?

Our teams are active throughout the North Okanagan and Shuswap, including Kamloops, Salmon Arm, Revelstoke, Vernon, Coldstream, Lumby, Armstrong, Enderby, Blind Bay, Kelowna, Summerland, Peachland, Penticton and Lake Country.

What are your payment terms?

For professional and commercial projects, we typically operate on 50/50 terms: a 50% deposit to secure materials and your place on our schedule, with the remaining 50% due upon completion of the project.

How do you handle project timelines?

One of the biggest pain points in local contracting is the “disappearing act.” At Kozak Surfaces, we provide clear timelines and regular updates. Once we begin your kitchen renovation or flooring installation, we stay on-site and communicative until the job is done.

Cabinetry & Countertops

What makes your cabinet boxes different from big-box stores?

Most retail cabinets use particle board or MDF. Our custom cabinet boxes are manufactured in Vernon using high-grade Baltic Birch tooling plywood. This provides superior strength, better screw-holding power, and ensures your cabinets won’t sag under the weight of quartz or granite countertops.

What kind of hardware do you use?

We exclusively use Blum hinges and the Movento 45kg runner system. This world-class hardware ensures that every drawer and door in your kitchen operates with silent, soft-close precision for decades.

Do you coordinate the stone fabrication?

Yes. As a single-source provider, we coordinate the templating and installation of your stone with our partner suppliers like Silestone and DMK Stone. We ensure your cabinetry is structurally reinforced and perfectly level before the stone arrives to prevent future cracking.

Flooring & Tile

Why is subfloor preparation so important?

A floor is only as good as the foundation it sits on. We perform a technical subfloor inspection on every job, checking for moisture levels and flatness. We provide subfloor levelling services to ensure that your hardwood or luxury vinyl plank doesn’t creak, bounce, or gap over time.

Can you install flooring in a home with radiant heat?

Yes, but material selection is key. We often recommend engineered hardwood for these environments, as the layered construction is more dimensionally stable than solid wood when exposed to temperature shifts.

Do you handle bathroom waterproofing for tile?

Absolutely. For bathroom renovations and custom showers, we use advanced waterproofing and uncoupling systems behind our tile installations. This prevents moisture from reaching your home’s structure and ensures your tile work remains crack-free.

Working With Professionals

Do you work with Interior Designers and General Contractors?

Yes. We act as a technical surface partner for new builds and large-scale commercial projects. We provide the specifications, material samples, and reliable trade coordination that professionals need to keep their projects on schedule and on budget.

How do I get a quote for my project?

The best way to start is by booking a consultation. We will discuss your scope of work, material preferences, and site conditions to provide an accurate, transparent quote.
